Hello. It's Anthony McCarthy from Huyton near Liverpool , Merseyside , England. I recently sent a message to your message board  asking if anyone could get me any details relating to my grandfather  "MARTIN JOSEPH. HANNON"  who I thought came from either "Listowel" or "Ballylongford". I received  a replay from a Mr Roger McDonnell who gave me  information saying that my grandfather may have come from "Killarney" in County Kerry.  He also gave me the registration details of  his birth registration. He  got the information from searching the 1911 census for County Kerry.  After looking at the 1911 census I found out that my grandfather had 3 sisters and 1 brother.  I would like to know if anyone can get me the birth registration details of my grandfathers sisters and brother so that I can obtain copies of their birth certificates. The details of my grandfathers sisters and brother are as follows:-

Kate Hannon ,  born :  1893. "Killarney".

John Hannon , born : 1895. "Killarney".

Isabella Hannon ,  born : 1898. "Killernay".

Annie Hannon , born : 1905. "Killarney".

I would like to thank Mr Roger McDonnell for all his kind help in getting me details of my grandfather and his family. I did send a message back to him via your message board but I do not know if he received it or not. I would be ever so grateful if you could pass on my thanks to him.

Any help you can give me regarding my grandfathers family would be extremely appreciated buy me. Thank you.

Kind Regards.  Anthony McCarthy

Thanks for the kind words. I was able to locate the civil birth index records for three of the children. For some reason, Anne does not come up and I used variant names and searched in all of Kerry. You can get copies of the actual birth records for around 4 euros each from the General Register Office. The form for birth requests is here. If you need instructions, let me know.

  • Attention of Mr Roger McDonnell,

Hello Roger.  I have just received your message regarding my message asking for any help in getting birth registration details of my grandfather ("Martin Joseph Hannon") sisters and brother. I will now be able to order copies of their birth certificates  using the details you have given me. Thank you for that. I was very surprised that you got back to me so quickly. I expected it would take a few days  for you to get back to me .

The information you have kindly passed onto me I will be passing it onto my uncle who lives in Birmingham as " Martin  Joseph Hannon" was his father. He has been trying to trace his family tree in Ireland but has had little success. He will certainly be pleased with the information I have found for him. Once again I would like to "Thank You" for all your kind help  in my search for details and information relating to the "Hannon" family. It has been very much appreciated by me. Thank you ever so much.

    Kind Regards.  Anthony McCarthy.
