I am a descendant of john sloan b.circa 1799  He imigrated to new york circa 1822

Family history says he was related to James Sloan inkeeper,founding member of orange movement

Any information regarding James Sloan would be appreciated

    Irish records at this remove are very scarce but if he was Church of Ireland rather than Presbyterian or eeven may anyway they are putting their records online at http://ireland.anglican.org/about/168 it is a slow process though and the parishes listed are mainly in Louth where is says Armagh as Armagh was a church diocese incorporating Louth.

    I see a good history site here http://www.historyarmagh.org/?page_id=40 whihc has a link to the local library also.

    If you look up history of the Orange Order there might be something but I am surprised an innkeeper would be involved in founding it as I do not think they are big on the drink, but that is only my opinion.
