Bridget Hughes

I just checked Roots Ireland and they do not have any Bridget Hughes baptismal or birth records in Co. Waterford for the years 1870-1880. I also checked the civil birth index records for Waterford and there were no Bridget Hughes birth records registered around 1875. Did she have another first name?

Dear Roger - Thank you for your reply.  I have found it very difficult to navigate this system but suddenly I have managed.

On the census return for 1901 Bridget's her place of birth is listed at 'n k' (not known).  However, in the 1911 census it is listed as Lismore, County Waterford.   Of course I do not know if this is true and I am disappointed that you have taken the trouble to search records and nothing has come up. I am very grateful for your time.  I imagined that if I could find her birth details then I would find out about her parents, addresses etc.   My family was very secretive as many were in those days (more private than nowadays).   Another puzzling thing is that Bridget was a Catholic - buried in the catholic cemetery - but the marriage certificate shows that she was married by a vicar in All Saints Church in Fulham.  It was from this certificate I read her father's name as William.
