Looking for Peter & Bridget Fitzpatrick, they are brother & sister from Galway. Peter B abt 1835 & Bridget B. About 1834, believe native of the Menlough Parish. Peter married his wife Catherine Hogarty B. abt 1846. Any information would be grateful.

Our volunteer has been back to me but without much success I'm Afraid. He reports that FitzPatrick and Hegarty / Hogarty are not names found in the parish but that you could possibly try focusing on Menlo, Co Galway which sometimes Menlough is confused with.
Best wishes

Thank you for getting back to me. I keep hitting a dead wall. So, how would I get in touch with the Menlo, Co Galway? Attached his the obituary notice for Peter James Fitzpatrick. That is how I got the Menlough Parish. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again
To cover all bases I checked for all of Ireland but couldn't find a marriage record for a Peter and Catherine. There doesn't seem to be a baptism for a Peter for any period within the range 1830-1850 which leads me to believe he was born in a parish that predate parish records. RC parish records for Menough, Kilscobe begin in 1806. In fact there are no baptism records for counties Roscommon, Mayo or Galway for a Peter between 1830 and 1840.
Do you know who Bridget married?
Best wishes

Hi Clare;
Thanks for looking. I believe Peter & Catherine got married in the states, but don't know where. Some one had sent me some information on Peter & Catherine that maybe they got married 1870 or 1871. For Bridget, she married a Thomas Gately, who also is from Ireland. The got married in Baltimore, Maryland on January 5, 1854. I have the record for that.
I was just thinking the records I have on are Peter James Fitzpatrick. Did they use there middle name back then?
Also, I sending the Passenger List from New York, stating Peter and his family arrived in 2/10/1849. I'm not sure it's them, but it had both Peter & Bridge on the list. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Kelly
I am the admin for the parish - sorry that I didn't get back to you previously
Clare had contacted me and I looked through the parish baptismal records - unfortunaltely the name does not appear on any baptismal registers either as child's name, mother's name or sponsor hence my initial response
Hoebver I just had a chance to check the marriage records which overlap before 1847 with Moylough parish as part of Moylough was transferred to Killoscobe in 1848 and found some info
There are several FitzPatrick's mentioned including
09/02/1846 FITZPATRICK, ELIZABETH to CUNNIFFE, LUKE
witnesses FARRELL HONORIA FITZPATRICK THOMAS
12/09/1828 FITZPATRICK MARGARET to GOURAN MICHAEL
KING JAMES LAFF MARY
11/11/1824 FITZPATRICK MARY to CONEALY PATRICK
CARRY PATRICK FITZPATRICK BRIDGET
14/02/1831 FITZPATRICK MICHAEL GLYN MARY
GLYN MARTIN MULLONY JUDY
20/05/1827 FITZPATRICK MICHAEL MORAN BRIDGET
MULLOWNEY ISAAC KILGANNON MARY
13/06/1825 FITZPATRICK MICHAEL NOONE MARY
KEARY THOMAS KEARY MARY
All predate the parish merger so not sure where they were located exactly
This is the list of people having property in the area in 1855
The interesting one is Jane in Menlough Commons in killoscobe
http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/galway/killoscobe.htm
http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/galway/moylough.php
She is renting plot Plot 17 and living in Plot 15b She is neighbours to Wards and there is a family with a Ward connection still living in that exact area - I will see if they knew of FitzPatrick's
The Maloney (Mullony/Mullowney) family live nearby so possibly the Michael FitzPatrick marriage is also Menlough
Is there a Jane or Michael in your Peter's or Bridget's family ?
Sorry again about the lateness in getting back to you and hope this triggers some info
Happy Christmas
