Matilda Barr born c1826. Her father James Barr born c1796 possibly in Newry/
Matilda married Edward Shorrt in Winchester in 1848. Winchester, like Newry was a garrison town and James Barr and Edward Shortt both served in the 9th Regiment of Foot. James was both a sergeant and bandmaster. Matilda was widowed in 1856 when her husband was killed in India.
