  • Happy summer down under...

My Kelly s are from Monaghan - I've found two baptism - 1 Margaret Kelly 1834 in Upper Creggan, Armagh and then 2. Hugh Kelly 1842 in Donaghmoyne, Monaghan... All Catholic

Part of castleblayney is in Donaghmoyne and part is in Muckno. I'm trying to narrow down townlands of origin.... Is it more likely for All border people near Crossmaglen and Upper creggan to go to Creggan or did more Muckno people go there or did more Donaghmoyne people go there....

why did they have to go to Armagh? No church's to serve them?

    Hope to hear from you

    Jim

  • I'm also looking in Muckno area. I was told my ggggrandparents Samuel Lynch and Elizabeth Mulligan lived right on the border and that my gggrandmother, Elizabeth Lynch was born in Armagh on August 15, 1830 but was raised by her Lynch grandmother in Muckno, Tullyrahan.

Family stories say the Lynches worked on the estate of a retired Captain Smith/Smyth?  I can't find records on the Lynch Mulligan marriage or Elizabeth or her siblings baptisms. Any ideas where I should look? Also any ideas on records I can find related to the people who worked for Captain Smith if there are any. Someone told me there were some but only for very early years.

Also on a family  tombstone in New York for Michael Lynch b. 18 he was a native of Longfield, Monaghan Ireland. Where would I look for his possible baptismal records?
