My mother's great-grandmother was Ann GRANT, married to William Douglas/Douglass from the Isle of Man.
The earliest confirmed find I have for them is in Louisiana in the US 1850 census. She was born ca. 1825. William Douglas was born ca. 1820.
According to her 1890 obituary, she was from "Abeside Dungarvin, Waterford". According to his 1907 obituary, he/they immigrated in 1847.
I have not so far found immigration records or marriage records for them. I'd like to find if they were married in Ireland, Isle of Man, or in the USA, and if possible, something about when & how they met.

I went to the site with church records for waterford and found baptismal records for ann grant
Ann grant b 1825 Co. waterford
ann grant b 1823 co waterford
I then went through the site to look at marriage records and found the strangest thing...
Ann grand married william douglas 1845 co waterford
ann grant married william douglas 1843 co waterford.
These records are on the www.rootsireland.ie website and you can search for free but pay about €5 to view particular record. I think these are certainly worth a look.
The parish of abbeyside is in the co. waterford dioscese
