Thanks for your reply Rory. Obviously I already have a location. :) I do have a lot of information and am happy to share with any other descendants. The records for Castlegregory, which is where I found my family, and many other parishes in Count y Kerry are also now online and free http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html

Generation One
This is what I know -
1. Patrick1 Flynn. Although it seems that Patrick and Margaret are the parents of Daniel, Patrick or Margaret has not been a common name in Daniel's family and this bothers me.
He married Margaret Moriarity.
Children:
2. i. Daniel2 Flynn b. 1832.
ii. Margaret Flynn, b. 1838 in Coolroe County Kerry Ireland baptized 5 Jan 1838 in Castlegregory County Kerry Ireland.
Generation Two
2. Daniel2 Flynn (Patrick1), b. 1832 in Coolroe County Kerry Ireland, baptized 2 Nov 1832 in Castlegregory County Kerry Ireland, d. March Qtr 1906 in Dingle Registration District,, occupation 1901 Farmer, resided Feb 1859 in Cappananee County Kerry Ireland, religion Roman Catholic. Coolroe was a townland of 109 acres in the barony of Corkaguiny, civil parish of Killiney, PLU of Dingle near Glenbeigh on the road fromTralee to Dingle County Kerry. It is a small fishing village that quietly rests on the northern section of the beautiful Ring of Kerry, at the foot of the Seefin Mountain, just 8 miles from Killorglin. By 1901 there appears there were no Flynns left in Coolroe.
In 1901 Daniel and Bridget could not read or write but they spoke both Irish and English. Their son Michael and his wife Ellie along with Michael and Ellie's 2 Year old son Michael and 11 month old daughter Bridget were living with them. Ellie could read and write but Michael could not however he also spoke both Irish and English. Daniel was the owner of the property which had a house of between two and four rooms with two windows at the front and also outbuildings consisting of one cow house and one potato house.
He married Bridget Flaherty (nee Crean?), married 6 Feb 1859 in Castlegregory County Kerry Ireland, b. 1840 in County Kerry Ireland,, religion Roman Catholic, d. March Qtr 1918 in Dingle Registration District. Bridget was a widow and I have not yet discovered her first marriage

Cappananee was a townland of 101acres in the barony of Corkaguiny, civil parish of Killiney, PLU of Dingle near the town of Camp on the road fromTralee to Dingle County Kerry.
By April 18th, 1911 Michael's father Daniel has passed away and Michael's family has increased to six living children of seven born to them, Michael now owns the property and Bridget, his widowed mother is still living with them. The eldest three children are all in school and can read and write and the eldest two children Michael and Bridget can also speak Irish and English like their elders. The cow house has apparently gone and the only remaining outhouse is the potato house.
Living next door is John Crean, a Civil Bill Officer aged 53 and his mother Ellen aged 74 but whether they are related to Bridget Flaherty who seems to have been Bridget Flaherty nee Crean, father John Crean, it is not known. A John Crean of Camp married Ellen Moriarty of Tralee 9 April 1861 but he appears to have been born in 1831 so too young to have been Bridget's father.
Michael married Ellen Riordan, married 17 Nov 1898 in Ardfert County Kerry Ireland, b. 1873 in County Kerry Ireland, (daughter of James Riordan), resided 1898 in Barrow County Kerry Ireland.

She married Patrick Albert Baker, married 23 Jan 1901 in St Stephens Cathedral Brisbane Qld Australia, b. 1873 in Kilfinnane County Limerick Ireland,,(son of John Baker and Henrietta Casey), d. Aug 1954 in Brisbane Qld Australia, buried 10 Aug 1954 in Toowong Qld Australia,,ccupation 1901 Tram Motor-man, occupation 1954 Chief Inspector of Tramways Traffic Dept BCC, resided 1901 in Musgrave Rd Red Hill Qld Australia, resided October 1921 in Cairns St Red Hill Qld Australia.

Dear Lyn, this is an amazing amount of work you have done! Are you looking for living relations?

Thanks Martine. Although I am quite happy to find living relatives I am actually more interested in going backwards and finding about their lives in Ireland. I'd like to find out about the Flynns in Coolroe and the Flaherty connection. It was hypothesised to me by an archivist that perhaps Daniel married Bridget against the wishes of his parents and that was why there are no children named after them. As Bridget was a widow it appears he married her and inherited the farm she would have inherited from her husband. So I'd like to find out more about those things. Always interested in stories about any of them though. :)

Dear Lyn,
I hope to meet up with someone in the New Year who might have that kind of information in the oral tradition. I will list it in my notebook to ask when I meet her.
Thank you for sharing all the information you have so generously. I hope you have a lovely Xmas.

Dear Martine
Just wondering if you had any luck with your meeting?

Martine, do you know of a postcard featuring the thatched cottage of Molly Finn? It is said to be the cottage of Mary Flynn b. 1860. I wondered if this was correct and if the postcard is still sold in Tralee and surrounds?
