Trying to trace the 'maiden' name of Alice Masterson born abt 1871, married Patrick Masterson (farmer) born abt 1854. Probably married 1891-1899. Lived in Columbkille and had many children including Mary, Bridget, Rose, Alice. I think they are my great grand parents. Any help would be appriciated. Thank You.

    Looks like the maiden name was Sheridan. See the marriage index record below. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros and the record will show the names of the fathers of the beide and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1896. If you want to get a copy, let me know and I will forward instructions. I also included the 1901 and 1911 census records for the family.

  • Thank you Roger, I saw the 1901 and 1911 census and the name 'Sheridan' but what I need is proof to tie the two together, also 'Keleher' popped up? So if there is another sorce to tie Sheridan to that 1911 census then brilliant. Thanks

    Not sure about the reference to Keleher.

    In any event, I picked out one of the children, Alice, and found her civil birth index record. You can get a copy of the birth record from the GRO and it should show her mother's maiden name.
