Looking for relatives of Michael Walsh baptized in this parish in 1836, son of Patrick Walsh and Mary Deady. Emigrated to North America in 1841 - 1851. Any possible leads would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your query.

In conjunction with your Walsh search in St. Patrick's, Kilkenny you could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for information on your Michael Walsh ancestor in Thomastown, Kilkenny. Roman Catholic records for the parish (Thomastown and Tullaherin) begin in 1782 with some gaps, notably between 1806 and 1810.

You may also be able to find a record of the family on the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 and Griffith?s Valuation 1847-1864, the former was a tax on agricultural produce paid to the Church of Ireland and the latter was a land tax survey :

Best of luck with your search
