  • Stanley:

The 1863 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows the surname as Levingston. There were two James listed not sure which is the father of George.  http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/down/tullylish.htm

I assume your ancestors were either Church of Ireland or Presbyterian. I checked Roots Ireland and they do not have baptismal records for those denominations so you would have to contact the churches directly.

  • If you haven’t already got a copy of it, it would probably be worth getting the 1846 marriage certificate. The marriage was registered in Banbridge on 25.9.1846. The certificate should have the fathers names and occupations, townlands (addresses) etc which may help trace the family.

Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church which should be on the certificate, (unless it was a Registry Office marriage). That church may be the place to look for her baptism and that of any siblings.

You can view the certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

    https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

(You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2 to a view a certificate).
