I have a very good record of what happened to Michael Cleary from Kilmallock after he settled in Canada.

Michael Cleary, born in Kilmallock about 1828 joined the 17th Foot Regiment at Killaloe in 1847 and served in the Crimean War and later in British North America from 1856 on.   He and his family then settled there, Canada.   In Aug 1850 he married Ellen Burke in Ballyovey parish in Co.Mayo.   On the same day, same place, my great-grandfather William Connell, also in 17th Foot,  married Mary Burke.    I assume she was the sister of Ellen.    I am hoping to get information on the Burke sisters' birthplace and family history.
