Hello,

I am in search of any irish records for my Devine relatives.  I am searching in Castleisland because of a obituary of one of the Devine relatives.

Parents:

Jeremiah Devine (abt 1815- abt 1891)

Mary(ellen) Cronin Devine ( -died before 1880)

Children:

James J Devine (1838-1904)

Denis Devine (1847 -1920)

Daniel Devine (1847 - 1908)

I show Jeremiah Devine in Manhattan, New York as early as 1863 with his sons' arrivals to be around 1867.  Jeremiah and Mary would have been married in Ireland.

It was in Denis Devine's obituary that stated he was from Castleisland, Ireland.  These Devines were Roman Catholic.

Thank you with any assistance in finding irish records of my relatives.

www.irishgenealogy.ie has the RC church records for Co. Kerry. I looked for the marriage record for Jeremiah and Mary in Castleisland church with no success. I also looked for the baptismal records with no records. Suggest you do some searching just to make sure I didn't miss a record.

On July 8th, the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would review the Castleisland records at that time. I believe their records start in 1822.

  • Thank you Roger.  I am planning a vacation to Ireland in April to check on some family history.  Thanks for doing some research for me.
