Seeking help to find any records or further information for:

Timothy Mulry born c1814 married Mary Lawler born c 1815. Mary may have been born in Kings County. Timothy and Mary are listed as from Ballinakill, religion Roman Catholic, in emigration records(to Australia1858) and I believe they were married in Woodford around 1837. They had several children in Woodford including my great grandfather Thomas Mulry, born c1845.

I have contacted The East Galway Family History Society but they have been unable to locate any records.

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am researching the same area and am also in Australia, but not the same names. There are very limited records before 1860 or so.i suggest roots Ireland web site for a months subscription or upgrade a level on ancestry.com.au to get Irish records. See if you can use the tithe applotment and griffiths valuations to any advantage. Also the census later on if you have not already. I am just having more luck in recent months so keep looking.

  • Deb:

I checked Roots and could not find any marriage or baptismal records on Roots Ireland. Roots does indicate that there are some missing years on the Woodford records which go back to 1821.

On July 8th, the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would review the Woodford register for any clues regarding your ancestors.

  • Deb,

I searched Griffith's for Mulrys and found an Anne, Daniel, and John in Ballincurry; also a Bridge in Moyglass. There is also some woodford stuff for the Egan family tree at rootsweb, including a map of Woodford parish showing all townlands.

best of luck to you, I'm also working on Maguires in Woodford parish.

  • Deb,
One more thing: What I will check if I ever visit Woodford/Ballynakill, is the school registers for Derryoober School. Your people might have attended there. It will be a rare thing to find listings of your ancestors prior to 1855.

My grandfather taught at Derryoober School a few years up to Feb 1906, when he emigrated.

  • Attention tj_moeller

I have Maguire ancestors from Woodford and would very much like to correspond. Which Maguires are you working on -- Allendarra or Drumminamuckla?
