Bridgette and Elizabeth Corcoran, twins, born March 1821, of Killala, sailed to America with Bridgette's husband, Michael Rogers, Jr., and her mother, Mary Fleming Corcoran andfather-in-law, Michael Rogers, Sr, arriving in New York about 1835. During the voyage, Michael Rogers, Sr., and Mary Fleming, fell in love and married on shipboard. The family group later moved to Philadelphia and then to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
On 6 June 1840, Elizabeth Corcoran married Thomas Finney, drayman, born 10 Nov 1808 in Claremorris, Mayo, in New Orleans. I have no information as to whZphen he immigrated.
I would appreciate any information anyone may have of the Corcoran, Fleming, Rogers and Finey families.

Hi Barbara,
I took a look at the Irish Tithes (taken between 1818 - 1842) and found quite a few Corcoran families living in Kilfian Parish and Lackan Parish, which all would be nearest to Killala.
My suggestion would be to list all of these families, and then also search Fleming and Roger surnames and see if they lived in the same townlands. This could help you narrow down where your Ancestors lived.

Here's a map of the parishes around the Killala:

I hope this helps,
