Taylor Castle TAYLOR

My father, Harry TAYLOR, is descended from Walter Thomas Henry TAYLOR, son of Walter TAYLOR who married Sarah PERSSE , son of John TAYLOR Esq. who married Susanna LOPDELL --and from there we are not sure. The family was told that we were related to the TAYLORs of Castle Taylor and Lt. General Sir John  TAYLOR. John Taylor was born in Rahard in 1770 and died in 1809 in Athenry. His widow, Susanna (Lopdell) TAYLOR is on the 1821 census living at Castle and Spiddlegate in Athenry with her children and extended family,  

Walter Taylor is referred to, along with his siblings, as nieces and nephews, of Lt. Gen. TAYLOR in Freemans Journals of the time which would corroborate the family story but the Castle occupancy goes to the son-in law of the General through one of his two daughters who are the only descendants listed in Burkes Peerage. It would be supposed he had no male heirs and he has no male siblings listed. His son-in Law changed his last name to SHAWE-TAYLOR to keep the Taylor name intact.

Somewhere we are illigetimate or disinherited - is what we suppose. 

We have done autosomal DNA tests that verify  our links to several PERSSE descendants , one being a 4th cousin of the same David Dudley PERSSE line. I also have confirmed through DNA two matches to Susanna LOPDELL with two cousins who alsso descend from her father, John LOPDELL - so these are correct. We have tested the Y-DNA line but do not have any perfect matches yet to a TAYLOR. Our closest matches are to a couple of males whose last names are WILLS. We are not autosomal DNA matches to them though which means that wherever the name change occurs it is further than the last 8 generations back and could be anywhere from the 1600s to the earliest times when names started being used. The WILLS we match are from Devon, England for many centuries. Our TAYLOR haplogroup is for the Y-DNA line is R1a1 which is further defined as  M -417 which is Scandinavian and would point to Viking invasions along the coast of England and Ireland. I am hoping to correspond with anyone with Links to the TAYLOR, PERSSE, LOPDELL or BLAKENEYS of Roscommon as well as the FFRENCH, DIGBY, REEVES and ORMSBY lines.
