I am looking for relations of County Clare natives-Delia Sullivan born about 1880ish, and Michael Dooley born about 1878.  They married in Chicago about 1904.  Michael had brothers and sisters Mary, Ella, Thomas, Bridget, James, John,  and Ann(Bugler) whom I believe stayed back in Tulla-she passed in 1969.  These are my grandmothers parents and all of my info is based on census records and death notices from the Chicago Tribune.  My grandmother is Marcella, my mothers name is Carol (both passed when I was very small).  I guess I am so interested in connecting with possible relatives over there and maybe they have a shared interest, so here goes  ><Fingers crossed><

Oh and as an added note Delia and Michael had a bording house in Chicago.  Here and there are borders listed as cousins, such as Martin Russel who immigrated in 1893 and James Cooney who was born about 1870. Maybe this is useful or not???  And I have a hunch Michaels parents are Anne Hehir b. 1843ish and Thomas Dooly b. 1840ish and married about 1870 in Tulla I believe.

  • Hello, I was wondering where your boarding house was located in Chicago? My County Clare ancestors were in Chicago and several lived in boarding houses in the early 1900's-1930's. One was a James Meade. Also 2 Richard Walsh's.

I recently learned I have Hehir ancestors, as well from County Clare,.Other names associated with the Chicago irish folks include Patrick Meade, James Meade, John Meade, Marie Hughes Meade, Katherine, Mary and Michael McNamara, John Honan.

Jane Hehir married a Mick Quinlivan and passed away in 2013

    Best regards,

    Hi Beth,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

The family boarding house was on the 2700 block of West 39th Street, in Chicago.  It is where my grandfather actually met my grandmother when he was staying there as a border.

I do not have a lot of info on the Hehir part of the family, yet.  It is my current stopping point as all of that info/proof is "across the pond" and this is my first dip in the water so to speak.

The other names are not ringing a bell either, but I will keep them in mind.

I am not sure what part of the states you are in but I am hoping this summer to get down to Chicago (I defected to Wisconsin a few years back) My family is still down there so I must suck up the drive :/  If time and luck allow I may stop at some cemetery's to get dates and pics.  Maybe there are a few I could get for you.

Well, back to work.  Best of luck on your hunting!!

    Kerri
