Hello. My ancestors were Charles Joseph Spain (solicitor) and his wife Mary A Maher who lived at Rosemary Square (1901 census), where my own father was later born to their eldest daughter. The North Tipperary genealogy office has helped me find Martin Maher, father of Mary. He was a farmer, born around 1814, and married his second wife, Margaret Maher (Mary's mother) at Bourney in 1865. His father was Lewis Maher.

I am having great trouble working out which branches of the Maher family Martin and Margaret came from, and the genealogy office hasn't had any luck with the church records e.g. for Mary's or Margaret's or Martin's baptisms, so I wondered whether there are any descendants of Martin or Margaret still living in the area who know anything about the more distant past? I've tried Griffiths Valuation and the Tithe records without success - there are simply too many possible individuals to choose from.

A couple of other questions:

Can anyone tell me what happened to Charles Joseph Spain's second child, Charles Martin Joseph Spain b. 1896? He appears aged 5 in the 1901 census but by 1911 his elder sister, my grandmother doesn't appear (by then she was away at finishing school in Spain) and nor does Charles Martin (away at school?). I've heard stories about all the other uncles and aunts, but he doesn't figure.

Finally, Parkmore. It's now a housing estate I see, but I believe it was home to some wealthy friends or relatives in the 1920s/early 30s. Is it known who was living there then?

Thanks for any light anybody can shed on this.
