Hello,
I am trying to learn a bit more about my great grandfather, John Kenny, his life (early years) and reasons for immigrating to Brookline, Mass, USA in mid-1880s. His baptism record from rootsireland indcate Jan. 2, 1861 as the date of birth/baptism. His address is listed as Derrywash, Aglish RC parish.
Additionally, he has a sister, Ellen Kenny with a birth date of September 4, 1867 with same parents (Martin Kenny and Mary Adams) and I can find nothing else on her. If she passed away in Ireland how might I find that?
Two of his other sisters, Catherina (nee Kenny) Tonra and Bridget Kenny immigrated to Brookline, Mass. Bridget died within a year of arriving in 1889. She is buried in Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, Mass.
There is a fourth sister, Sarah, who stayed in Ireland and took care of the parents as they grew older. Sarah married a Thomas Garvey in Castlebar in 1907. I believe he may have been a baker.
Thanks. I'm glad to provide additional details if needed.

I think the townland was spelled Derrycoosh. Here is Mary and Sarah in the 1901 census.

By 1911 they were living in Castlebar Town.

Martin likely died in 1899. See below.
The 1856 Griffiths listing showed an Anne Kenny in Derrycoosh. Possibly this was Martin's mother.

I looked for Ellen in both the death and marriage registers with no success. Maybe she also emigrated?
