  • Hi again Dominic:

Give me a week or so and I will check this out for you.  There are others researching the same names, so I might have other contacts for you to collaborate with.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Hi Gerard and Dominick:  Glad to see that you have both connected.  The Russell/Brassil variation is interesting as there was a Russell family in the Knockjames/Derryulk area.  I am living in the same area, and there is another Clancy researcher in New Zealand who will hopefully see this message and be able to contribute to the information.  You both might be interested to know that the local Tulla Reaching Out committee have done a lot of heritage work for the parish and we have a number of school registers transcribed on the Clare Library website.  I would recommend that if you have not done so, you would go to Clare Library, click on the Genealogy Tab (right hand side of the home page) and click on Civil Parish on that page (also right hand side).  You will find all the resources related to Tulla parish within the civil parish page of Tulla..  If you have any questions, please email me directly at:  tulla@irelandxo.com.

All the best with your research,

    Jane

  • Hi Gerard and Dominic!

Both my wife and I have Clancy family members in our Family tree but neither seems to align with your Australian Clancys.  My Clancys (Denis Clancy (1778-1841).for example) are from Killaloe, County Clare and Maureen's Clancys are from County Cork.

I'd like to establish whether either of our Clancys link with yours.

May I please have a bit more detail about your Clancy connections by email at dasmurphy@hotmail.com - especially the ones in Australia?.

    Cheers and best wishes

  • In response to Daryl and Maureen Murphy's response, there IS a link between these families.  I descend from the same line as Dominic and Gerard, but I also have DNA matches with descendants of the Killaloe family.  I have a FEELING (but that is all), that Denis Clancy (who married Maria Sullivan) was PROBABLY an Uncle of Patrick Clancy who lived on Tome and married Margaret Brassil. This is based on the fact that for those of that I have of Denis Clancy's children, Mary c1803, cPatrick 1804, cJohn 1808, Daniel c1810, births were about the same time as Patrick Clancy was born (c1805). If there are any errors in what I have posted, I will be happy to stand corrected.
