I'm looking for my ancestor Edward Cullen and his parents. Accoring to his Australian marriage certificate he was born in about 1842 in Waterford, Ireland and was the son of Patrick Cullen and Catherine Lynch. Patrick was listed as a fisherman.
His first child was born in 1866 in Queensland so he arrived prior to that.
Any information on his Irish family would be very much appreciated.

I checked the Roots Ireland indexes for Co. Waterford and found an 1842 baptismal record for an Edward Cullen. The parents were Patrick and Catherine. The record was in the Killea RC church records. Killea civil parish is on the southeast edge of Co. Waterford
Possibly this record is for your Edward. There are three other baptisms for Cullen children in the Killea church records.
Roots is a subscription site. Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to put all RC parish registers online for free searching.
I also looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killea civil parish. There was a Patrick Cullen in Knockavelish townland. Likely this is the same Patrick shown as the father in the baptismal record.
