I am interested in finding information on John Finn who is buried in Green Lawn Cemetery, Simpson county, Franklin, Kentucky.  On his tombstone it says he was born April 16, 1790 in Aughrim Co Galway Ireland, he married Frances Walker Bigger in Logan County KY.  His father was Lawrence Finn born in Aughrim Co. Galway Ireland in 1760 and he married Mary Highay.

Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Unfortunately RC church records for Aughrim/Kilconnell parish only go back to 1828 and only the marriages are online at this time at a subscription site.

I looked at the 1826 Tithe Applotment records for Aughrim civil parish and there were five Finn head of households listed leasing land in the parish. However,  the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household lisitng did not show any Finns suggesting that they had died out, emigrated or moved within Ireland.

You can view the Tithes at www.titheapplotmenbooks.nationalarchives.ie

Let ne know if you have any questions.

  • hello! My name is Elli Finn, Lawrence Finn was my 5th great grandfather. I've been building up my family tree on Ancestry and trying to find more information about him. Coincidentally I live about an hour from where he's buried in Schuylkill County Pennsylvania, USA. I'd be happy to talk with you about all the little information I know, my email address is earl.sweatpants.96@gmail.com
