I am tracing our Gret Grandfather and his father who come from Abbeyfeale.  I have not managed to track down either of their birth records nor the marriage records of the gggfather. Can you help please?

John Reardon born 1848, on uk census records and marriage certificate shows Limerick as birth place and I have discovered he may have come from Abbeyfale.  His father was a Yeoman, Patrick Reardon who had died by the time of John's marrriage in 1880.  John joined the Army in 1868 and spent the rest of his life in the army/navy and England.

I have tried to find details of Patrick's wife/John's mother.  I did find a Patrick Reardon and Mary Ryan on July 1st 1845 in the church of Ireland but showed him as a Blacksmith.

Can anyone help me on this please?  We live in Plymouth, Devon so it is difficult to get to Limerick area.  Any lkeads would be most welcome.  PS On all John's records, Census, Marriage etc.,  and Military the spelling is always REARDON

Thanks in anticipation

  • Hi Ron
There is a baptism record of John Riordan 26 Feb 1848 Abbeyfeale R C parish but the parents are Daniel R & Judith Connell on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site)
There is another 22 Oct 1843 Abbeyfeale parents Patrick R &
    Margaret Collins.
And another in 1839 Abbeyfeale parents Patrick R & Helen Collins.
(I searched Reardon but all were Riordan)
