My great, great grandfather, Edward Colleran, married Mary Garrity in the Parish of Ballintober on March 7, 1852 and sailed for America March 11, 1852. Their son, James Colleran, had a son, Daniel E. Colleran, who is my paternal grandfather. His son, James A. Colleran had a son (me), James M. Colleran.
I have been to Ireland twice before. I plan to visit again, Summer 2015, to see Co. Mayo for the first time. I would very much like to have any information on Colleran relatives that you could provide.
Thank you,
James M. Colleran

James:
RC church records for Ballintober RC church do not begin until 1839 so baptismal records for Edward Colleran will not be available.
I checked the Tithe listings for Ballintober and there were 195 entries but no Collerans. There was a Daniel Colleran in Derradda townland in Ballyovey parish which is just to the south of Ballintober. Not sure if this is a connection.
I checked the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings for both parishes and there were no Collerans.
Let me know if you have any questions.

i too, am looking for Colleran's from the area of Partry, Co Mayo! my grands were Celia Hughes who married James Colleran 20 Jan 1845 in Balla, Tuam Diochese of the Catholic church.
Does this match your Collerans?
