Hello, I am looking for any information on my grandmothers family. I remember as a child I asked her where she lived in Ireland. She told me "Leitrim". Her parents were Hugh and Annie Cunningham. I found their names in the 1911 census. THe Townland/Street was Traskernaugh Kilmeen, Galway At the time Hugh Cunningham was 40 and wife Annie was 39. The children were as follows. Thomas-19 Patrick=17 Michael-15 Mary Anne 14 Bridget-Kate-12 (my grandmother) John-10 James-8 Margaret-6 Anthony-4 Any type of info would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps marriage information could possibly let me know Hugh and Annie's parents names. Where anyone is buried. Or, just anything! Thank you very much for your help. Deborah Adams

I looked for the family in the 1901 census and could not find them in any county. I thought possibly they were in England or America in 1901 but all children are shown as born in Co. Galway in 1911 including the 10 year old John. Maybe they were missed in the census or the surname was a lot different than Cunningham. ( I did check Cunnigham and Conaghan with no success).
The 1911 census shows that Hugh and Anne were married 20 years which would put their marriage date around 1890-1891.
I did locate a civil marriage index record for a late 1889 marriage between Hugh Cunningham and Annie Mullin in the Portumna registration district. There was also an 1891 marriage up in the Lurgan registration district (Armagh/Down) but I discounted the record because of the location.
A couple questions: do you know where the family was in 1901 and also why would your grandmother say "Leitrim" when the family was in Galway in 1911.
