Thanks for accept me in the group.

I am looking for informations about family name Layme. I found in US Census of 1860 records that Michael Layme lived in Cleveland (Ohio/USA)  with Ester Layme and May Layme, probably his wife and daughter. All born in Ireland,  in 1812-1819  (Michael and Ester) e 1837( May) and probably move to US during 1845 famine.

All information about theirs or live person with this surname would be great.

Viviane

  • There's no-one of the name Layme in Ireland in the 1901 & 1911 censuses. Suspect the family name may have changed slightly over the years and between Ireland and the US. Nearest I can find in Ireland is Layne, of which there are about 26 in 1901. Also Layng, of which there is a small number too.

  • Currently in Brazil are  few persons with my surname  and nobody of my nearest relatives knows its origins.

The most of current records of Layme family is in the Peru and USA. I found a small number of persons with surname in the France too. Nobody currently in England or Ireland,  all old records of these countries are "Layne" not "Layme". I suspect too that my family name has changed through time.

    Thanks for your help.
