I would be grateful for any information which would enable me to trace my ancestors from Ireland.I have been unable to find any information by internet search.
My paternal Great Grandfather was John Denn, born in 1855 in Waterford. He married Mary Power, born 1850, also from Waterford, in Liverpool in 1874. John Denn died in Liverpool in 1929 aged 74 years. Mary Denn, nee Power, died in Liverpool in 1907.
Thank you.

If you get a copy of the 1874 marriage certificate it should give you John Denn's father's name, which you'll need to be sure you have found the right baptism record. Statutory recording of births didn't start in Ireland till 1864 so you will have to rely on church records for an 1855 birth. Do you know what John's denomination was?

That?s helpful. Waterford City RC records go back to the early 1700s so you should have affair chance of finding the baptism. They are on-line on the rootsireland site (pay to view).

The marriage certificate received today gives John Denn's father as Patrick Denn, gardener. Mary Power's father is given as Thomas Power, deceased, also gardener.
I will check the rootsireland site as you suggest.Thank you.
