Hi,

I am from Newfoundland Canada and I am completing a family tree and I have discovered that William MULLOWNEY b. about 1750 was from Sligo.  I am wondering what parish he belonged to.

Ahy help would be great!

thanks jackie

  • Hi Jackie

    I couldn't find any Mullowney birth/baptism records in Sligo 1750 + - 20 years on www.rootsireland.ie/ (a subscription site)

However the Tithe Applotments (free) have 8 Mullowneys in Sligo in 1833 - most of them in Tully CASTLECONOR http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…

The Irish Censuses 1901 & 1911 (also free) have 8 & 11 Mullowneys in Sligo most still in Castelconer http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

  • Hello Jackie
The name Mullowney is common in West Sligo (Easkey/Castleconnor/Kilglass) but is also spelled Moloney or Muloney (more common modern day spelling is Moloney)
I can assist you with some research, if you wish

Do you have any further details/names or when they emigrated?

    Kind regards

    Kathleen
