Hi

I'm looking for specifically the record of Mary Laganeer Barkman date of death 30 May 1859.

Mary lived in Glensosheen Limerick. Husband was Joseph Barkman/Bateman and there were at least 4 children.

Any records on this family would be appreciated.

Regards

Liz

  • Hi Liz
The SMITH public member tree on ancestry (owner LizanneEllis) has the marriage as 20 Sep 1852 in Kilflyn, Limerick

There is a record of this marriage on www.rootsireland.ie/ which is now a subscription site. The record will have the parish (which you already know) but MAYBE the fathers' names and their addresses when married.

If you know her age at death you can search for her baptism record on rootsireland.

  • I cashed in my remaining credit for a one month subscription.  The record:

Name: Mary Bartman   Date of Death: 30-May-1859
Age: 39   Parish / District: KILFLYNN
    Address: Glenasheen   County: Co. Limerick
    Status:     Denomination: Church Of Ireland
    Occupation:     Sex: Female

So she would have been born around 1820.  I found this baptism which despite the strange spelling of Legeer looks phonetically correct.

Name: Mary Liciur Date of Birth: 11-Nov-1821
        Date of Baptism: 31-Oct-1831
    Address: Not Recorded Parish/District: KILFLYNN
    Gender: Female County Co. Limerick
        Denomination: Church Of Ireland

Father: Solomon Liciur Mother: Elizabeth Not Recorded
    Occupation: Not Recorded

I have seen the name Solomon Legear on Castle Oliver rent roll records.  I am guessing that the baptism date is a typo error.

Also some Kilflyn headstones that may be of interest although they are all relatively modern. The following links should take you to them.

    Legeer

    Bartman

  • Hi Tim

Many thanks for this information and for the subscription.  I had seen the same thing but was unsure if it could be her! The gravestones as you say are newer but could still be my distant family.

    Cheers
