He was in army service corp based in Woolwich Dockyard England, he was discharged in 1918 says he was 40 yr old but on 1911 census he was 50

He married Mary Alice Monaghan in 1918 in Teccounaght , Rosconnor , Co Down.On his marriage cert his father Peter is dead at this time.

I cant even find a death for him, his wife died in 1951 in Co Down and she was a widow, she lived with my grandmother

  • Hi Maureen

There is only 1 record of a James McDonald with father Peter born in either 1860 or 61 on www.rootsireland.ie/ (a subscription site) - it is 1860 OFFALLY

The record will have the parish and MAYBE 1 or both parents' names

If the discharge record is correct he would have been born c 1878; there is a baptism record on rootsireland for a James with father Peter in 1878 in Louth so neither is Down or Meath I'm afraid

  • Ok so that would make the birth year around 1870

There is a baptism record of James McDonald with father Peter on rootsireland

It is 1872 in Kilkenny - so another county but still not one of those you wanted!!
