I am looking for information on William Pickens & his wife Ellen McDonald. Their son William Pickens was baptised in a Catholic church on Oct. 16, 1853 in the Parish of Annagh County Cavan. The sponsors were John McGuire & Mary McCabe.
Sometime between 1853 & 1861 Willam & Ellen with son William immigrated to Canada ( Upper Canada at the time).

Hi Joanne
I couldn't find a marriage record for William and Ellen but did find the baptism record on www.rootsireland.ie/ (a site which charges)
http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=0&prevStartQuery=0
There are also 2 baptism records of William Pickens in Cavan 1830 + - 10 years - 1 is 1834 & the other 1836
http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=1&confirmPageView=Y
The Tithe Applotments have 10 Pickens in Cavan 1828-1833
There are also 8 Pickens in Griffiths Valuation (1848-64) in Cavan but none in Annagh
There are quite a few public member trees on ancestry which have Pickens in Canada; which area of Canada did they come to / live in?

Hello ColCaff,
Thank you so much for this information on the Pickens of County Cavan this will be a great help in my serarch.
I have seen some of the family trees on ancestry & I am related to some of them. William Pickens & Ellen McDonald settled in Lennox Addington County, Township of Sheffield in what was known as Upper Canada at the time.
They arrived between 1853 & 1859 but I have not been able to determine the exact date, what port they left from, what ship they sailed on or what port they arrived at. So my search continues.
Thanks Again Joanne
