I am searching for relatives of Thomas Corrigan and Julia Anne Delaney.  They were married in Castlecomber, County Kilkenny, Ireland about 1829. They were catholic.  Thomas was born about 1788 and Julia Anne about 1810. About 1849, Thomas and Julia and their family of 7 children left Castlecomer, County Kilkenny for Canada. Their children were born in Ireland:
    Martin      17 May, 1831
    John          about 1832
    Elizabeth    22 Dec 1834
    Mary Agnes    about 1836
    William             1838
    Michael      28 May 1841 and
    Bridget      28 Apr 1847.

  • Hi Abbie

    I couldn't find a marriage record of Thomas & Julia on www.rootsireland.ie/

There are 45 public member trees on ancestry.com which have this couple but none has thier parents

    http://trees.ancestry.com.au/tree/26449355/person/2002593516

They do have a birth year for Thomas: 1788 parish Castlecomber & 1815 for Julia

There is a record of a baptism of Thomas in Kilkenny in 1788 on rootsireland but the parish is not Castlecomber.

No luck with Julia 1815 Kilkenny however.

It costs to view the records on rootsireland which will have the parish and MAYBE the parents' names.

  • Hi Vivian & Abbie

The Tithe Applotments (free online) have a Martin & a John Corrigan in Aughatubbrid, Castlecomer in 1823. They were occupiers of land there.

I suspect they would be brothers or cousins of Thomas & notice that Thomas's first two sons were Martin & John.

The Irish naming pattern was to name the first son after his father's father, second after mother's father, third after father which would make William the father if your Corrigans followed the traditional pattern.

I had a look for the children's births on www.rootsireland.ie/ and found Martin's baptism 14 May 1834 in CLOUGH R C parish parents Thomas Corrigan & JUDITH Delany. Child's address Coolnaline

    I couldn't find John

William baptism 29 Jul 1841 same details as Martin

    Elizabeth 23 Dec 1843; Mary 17 April 1811!! Michael 26 April 1839; Bridget 14 April 1846

There is also a Catherine 6 April 1838. Amazing how many were born in April!

There are a few Judith Delany birth records around 1810 so I didn't know which was the right one
