Hi K8
my name is Colin Ryan, I am a direct descendent of Thomas & Bridget Ryan, I have been researching the Ryan family for the last 12 years. I have information on the Ryans in Ireland, USA, New Zealand and Australia, if I can be of any help let me know, I am more than happy to share any information that I have.
the information that you have on Edmund is correct as far as my research goes, he was born 1784 m 1807 died 1814, and is buried in the Oola cemetery, I have a photograph of grave, I visited Ireland and the family farm and cousins in 20012. The Cross Cottage farm house is still standing with a Ryan living on the farm.
hope i can be of help

Colin, I noticed you are related to Thomas and Bridget Ryan from Cross Cottage. My Ryans are Edmund Ryan married to Ann Gubbins who lived in Coologue House, just up the road from Pallasgreen. I am trying to work out how the Cross Cottage Ryans and the Coologue House Rysns and the Gubbins from Oola are linked to my Gubbins connection.
August 1884 “New Zealand Tablet”: DEATH. RYAN.—On the 16th inst., at Dunedin. Edmond Gubbins Ryan, eldest son of Joseph Ryan, Esq., Cross Cottage, County Limerick, Ireland, and nephew of William Gubbins, Esq., J.P., Gurhkleen Cottage, Ollo (sic Oola), and of Joseph Gubbins, Esq., J.P., Ollo (sic Oola) Hills House, County Tipperary, Ireland; aged 52.—R.I.P. Hopefully you are still around and see this message. My name is Pat St George and I live in Australia

Hi Pat
There is an error in this death notice - Edmond was the son of John Ryan of Cross Cottage. The rest is correct. John was married to Ann Gubbins who died in 1846 (or was it 1847 - just can't remember off the top of my head!) and is buried in the Oola cemetery. Colin will confirm this - we have both been researching this family for several years.
Interesting family!

Catherine, thanks for your reply. Have you got a family tree somewhere that I might be able to get a look at? On a map do you know where Cross Cottage is in relation to Coologue House? Do you know who the parents of Ann Gubbins married to John Ryan were? Pat
