Hi, I am trying to trace geneology of Daniel Joseph Quigley. b. about 1926 somewhere in Derry. He was illegitimate so did not talk about his background very much. His mum, Rose, whom he loved dearly, went on to marry a widow called Mc Callion and she had a child with him called Leo. Daniel married Sarah Carlin, (also illegitimate) about 1949 either in Eire or perhaps Glasgow. As both were illegitimate I have found a dead end everywhere I look. There is a link I believe to a family called Doherty from Donegal, cousins of his mother perhaps?
My father said his mother died while he was at sea, (merchant ship going to India) he was a cooks assisstant age about 15? His mother 'may' be buried in the 'Longtower' district. Daniel died in 1991 in Staffs, England.
Any help would be so welcome. Thankyou.

Daniel?s marriage to Sarah Ann Carlin was registered in Cambuslang (near Glasgow) in 1950. You can order a copy from Scotlandspeople for ?12.

I can?t see a Daniel Joseph Quigley born in Co Derry anytime around 1926 on the GRONI website. The nearest was a Dan Joseph Quigley regd Inishowen Oct ? Dec 1921 (Vol 2, page 84). Inishowen is just north of the city of Derry and so might be worth investigating.
There was also a Daniel Quigley birth regd in Donegal Town Apr ? Jun 1925 Vol 2, page 9.
The only Rose Quigley death in Northern Ireland around the date you have given was registered in Londonderry city. She died 25th July 1941 aged 78 which seems much too old. There weas also a Rose Ann Quigley whose death was regd in Inishowen in Jan ? Mar 1948, aged 69. Otherwise nothing in that part of Ireland that fits.
There are several Rose Quigleys in Derry and Donegal in the 1911 census. No way of knowing which is yours without more information as to residence or age.
You could contact Derry City council cemetery department to see if they have a record of Rose?s burial. http://www.derrycity.gov.uk/Cemeteries/General-Info
