I am looking for information on the parish that David Larkin b. abt 1813 in Tipperary Ireland and his wife Margaret O'Brien b. abt. 1813 were from. Their son James David Larkin b. abt 1834 Tipperary.

They immigrated to Canada around 1840 first settling for 3 yrs in Newfoundland and then moving to Lot 42, Kings County, Prince Edward Island were they lived out their lives.  Family stories handed down say David was one of 5 brothers that immigrated from County Tipperary, Ireland to Canada.

  • Hi Bill, I am looking at old queries and see why your is not answered, can find no record for your family as the parish records appear to be either missing or have gaps. You can see the various parishes here https://registers.nli.ie/

An outside chance on the private genealogy groups on Facebook dealing with Tipperary Genealogy.

There is also a Tipperary local history website, not sure if they do quereis but they may have some references to people from an area going to Newfoundland. If I was to make a bet on it I would think from around Clonmel as that is near Waterford or Carrick On Suir as Waterford had trade with that area of Canada from early times. The history site is here https://tipperarystudies.ie/historical-society/

    Good Luck

    Pat
