Looking for information on Patrick Thomas Noonans death. Patrick was born Jan/10/1843 in Galbally son of Kennedy Noonan {son of Kennedy Nunan/Noonan & Eliza Ryan} and Catherine Casey. Siblings were Bridget, Honora, Kennedy,Mary, Richard,Denis,Christopher,Thomas, and Michael. Patrick married Ellen Casey in Kilfinane.

Patrick and Ellen had 12 children. Maurice,Honora,Kennedy,Johanna,Denis,Patrick,Josephine,Mary,William,Bridget,Julia, and Mary.

Ellen and the younger children came to Haverhill Ma in 1887, so I assume Patrick died somewhere between 1884 and 1887? There were some rumors he was shipped to australia, but can not confirm this.

Patrick an Ellen lived in a house on the main road headed north out of Galbally, which still stands today. Daniel Noonan and his wife Julia took over residence of the house around 1881? Daniel was from Kilteely? Was curious if he was a relative to Patrick? Perhaps cousin? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I just checked the death index records on www.findmypast.ie  (subscription site). I looked in the Mitchelstown registration distrcit which covers Galbally civil parish. There were only 7 Patrick Noonan deaths recorded in that district and the earliest was 1893. The closest of the seven based on year of birth was a Patrick Noonan born 1845 and died in 1916. Maybe the story about Australia has some merit.

  • Thanks Roger!

I have come across a Patrick Noonan who died in Monanig, Cork in the Ireland Calendar of Wills and Administrations. Are you familiar with how they work? Is that something I could request a copy of, or do you know if they have more information than what you are able to see online? This is what I was able to see:

8 Feb Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Patrick Noonan late of Monanig County Cork farmer who died 31 July 1885 at same place were granted at Cork to Ellen Noonan of same place the widow.

Do you know of anyway to find out cause of death or any other info? The year of death and the year of Ellens arrival to USA has me thinking this could be my Patrick. Thank you!!!

I found a death index record in the Fermoy registration district (which includes Monananig) for a Pat Noonan , however, the age was shown as 70 which is nowhere near 42 or so. I would discount this record. I'm not an expert on wills. Do you have access to Ancestry.com? Maybe they have the information.

I went on the Mormon site www.familysearch.org and found the same information that you have regarding the will. Looks like his estate was 265 pounds. Not sure there would be any other details.
