My GG Grandfather Thomas Plant b.1810 emigrated to Canada in 1855 with his family from Kilcommock Parish. I have recently found out that his father was named Robert. Unfortuately, that given name seems to be a popular one in the family. I am trying to determine which one of two Roberts ws my GGG granfather. According to LDS files, one was born in 1779 the other in 1781. Both died in 1873.
In addition, I am not sure of Thomas's siblings, although I am led to believe there may have been a William, John and Margaret.
Any suggestions or assistance would be most appreciated.

As you can see from the link below, Kilcommock is a Civil Parish in Co. Longford:
Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Kilcomogue begin in 1859. It would be difficult to say, which Robert named is your ancestor. The best thing you can do is gather as much information as possible.
Have you searched the sites below for further records on the family?
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.
