Hi,

I'm trying to find out when David Tedford b. 28 Feb 1846 in Derrykeevan, Armagh and his wife died.

He was alive in March 1888, when he signed his mother Abigail's death cert in Derrykeeran but can't seem to find him in the 1901/11 census or indexes. He would been about 42 yrs old at the time.

He married Hannah Vaughan/s n on 28 Apr 1869 in Derrykeeran, and was a weaver. His last child James was born in 1881, so his wife Hannah was alive at that time but cant find anything for her.

Can anyone help ?

Regards,

Daryl

I found a 1901 census record for a David Telford in Derrykeeran. His wife. however, was named Lavinia and their son was Robert not James. Also found a 1911 record for a David Tedford who was a widower.Let me know if these records are for your family.

  • Hi Roger,

    Thanks for finding those details,

I don't think he's my David unfortunately. I've already looked at the 1901 one, and unless he remarried after he was widowed he isn't the right one. I've also had a look at the 1911 one too, but I've already ruled him out as he was a farmer and my David was a weaver. I looked at his will, and found his son also named David, and did a bit of detective work but his parents aren't related to to my David..

    Thanks,

    Daryl

I found civil death index records for a David Tedford and a Hannah Tedford. Possibly your relatives?

  • Hi Roger,

Many thanks for finding those death entries regarding David & Hannah. I have already looked at that David before, and dont think he's my one unfortunately. I looked at his will, and managed to find a son also named David in Glasgow but details didn't fit.

I haven't found that entry for Hannah though, I'm wondering if David re-married if Hannah died young. There is a David in the 1901 census in Derrykeeran who's living with a Lavinia nee Haire, mother in law, and a son Robert George aged 18 yrs old. The only thing that doesn't fit is his occupation, which is a farmer.  I wonder if there's a marriage for them which might give more details. My David Tedford was a weaver.

    Thanks for finding the info.

  • Hi Roger,

I've found the marriage record for David & Lavinia which was on 2 July 1897 at St Paul's church,

Tartaraghan. I've also found a birth cert for Robert George Tedford who was living with him in

1901, which states his mother was Hannah Vaughan.

I can't seem to find David, Robert, or Lavinia's death. I have found Lavinia's mother Eliza's death on

30 Oct 1903 in Lurgan though.

I had a look at the 1911 census for them, but couldn't find any of them. The only one I did find was a David who was in Derrinraw, Armagh and was a widower. He was in his 70's, so he was the wrong age for my David, who would have been in his early 60's by the 1911 census.

There was also a death for a David in 1917, but I think it's the same as the one in the 1911 census.

    Regards,

    Daryl
