Hi,
I have traced my great great grandfather and some of his brothers to Waterford, but that is about it. As far as towns have been linked (with little) supporting evidance is Kill, Kilmacthomas, Dungarvan, Ballyristeen and Mountain Castle .
Michael McGrath born around 1850 +/- 5 years migrated to Wellington region New Zealand before 1882 (I think 1881). Died Ireland July/August/September 1910. Died at sister residence ballyristeen, sister name unkown. Was well known in NZ as a horse trainer.
Brother...Maurice T McGrath (building Contractor), migrated Wellington regoin New Zealand around 1881. Died in NZ 1906
Brother...Father William McGrath, migrated to Bathurst NSW Australia, then to Wellington New zealand Died NZ 1906.
Brother...Canon McGrath who I beleive may have stayed in Ireland.
A starting point or some advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I looked at the 1911 census for Ballyristeen. I found this record which may be Michael McGrath's sister. Note the nephew born in Australia. Possibly he was the son of William.

I also found the civil death index record for Michael. You can write to the General Register Office for a copy of the death record. A copy costs around 4 euros. The record will show the name of the informant of the death which possibly would be the sister. Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx Hit the link for death certificate in English. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. Hit cancel and the form should come up. Fill out the form and provide the info from the index record quarter/year of death, registration district (Kilmacthomas) and the volume and page number (4 and 387). Make sure you only as for a copy. You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

Roger,
Thank you. I feel this is Michael's Sister too. The Australian nephew I bet is Michael's son. Thank you for the how to order Michael's death cert...I had already looked without success. How do I go about in finding Michael's grave...he was catholic. I have looked on the net and got nowhere.
Once again thank you

I would contact the church (St. Joseph and St. Benildus) in Newtown to see if they can assist you on where Michael may be buried.
