Looking for Mackeys from Co. Mayo:

Mary Mackey, born in May of 1824

Emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada and married John Hines/Hynes 17 Nov 1842 in Nelson, New Brunswick. In the late 1840s, they moved to Wisconsin, and then in the 1870s they moved to Martin County, Minnesota.

Total they had eight children: Mary Elizabeth, Edward, Thomas J., William, John O., Julia Agnes, Catherine, and James Francis (my direct ancestor).

Any help would be much appreciated!

I looked at the Tithe Applotment listings and the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings. There were very few Mackey records. There was only one Mackey in the 1833 Tithe listings-- a Thomas in Cartongilbert townland Crossmolina civil parish.http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004587427/004587427_00030.pdf

The Griffiths listing showed nine MacKeys all in Crossmolina parish including two in Cartrongilbert (see below). RC church records for Crossmolina start in 1831 which is too late for Mary.

  • Hi Roger,

Thank you for your help! I will look into the Tithe Applotment and Griffith's Land Valuation records.
