I first find Patrick H. O'Brien Jr. in Milwaukee Wi. (1850 US census). He is 18 or 19 living by himself. His parents(Patrick Sr & Mary) w/siblings (Catherine, Bridget, George, Timothy)do live in the same community (Milwaukee's 3rd ward). Patrick's Jr older sister Bridget is already married to a John Brady. From what I seen John & Bridget were married in Ireland although I have no proof of that. John & Bridget move to Freedom but not until about 1857. The US & WI 1850 & 1855 Censuses both have the O'Brien' s & Brady's living in Milwaukee but a written history of Freedom Township, Outagamie County, Wi lists Patrick H. O'Brien Sr & John Brady as settlers by purchasing 80 (O'Brien) & 40 (Brady) acres of land in Freedom (1849 & about 1857).
I've been told by a living relative of the Brady's that they are from Tuamgraney. If they all came together, wouldn't the O'Brien's be from there too? Or at least close by?
Patrick Jr tends bar in Milwaukee's 3rd ward for John McDowell Smith & in 1853 marries John's daughter Mary Mulvina Smith. All the O'Brien's leave the big city for the farm in Freedom where the young couple raise their children (Charles, Henry, Martin, George & Anne). Patrick Jr becomes Registry of Deeds for the county.
On the 1900 US census, Patrick Jr is living with his son Henry & 2 nieces named Rose & Cora Borman in Oshkosh, Wi. Both men are listed as widowers. One question on the census asks when did you arrive in US. Patrick's answer is 1847.

Hi - i'm not sure if you're responding to my O'Bryan enquiry or asking a question? I am researching a Patrick O'Bryan who settled in Nova Scotia in the late 1700s. He had many sons and grandsons with the names Patrick, Henry etc.. It is possible that one of his grandsons emmigrated to the US in 1847... but I have none recorded that are born around 1830. Several were born in the mid 20s and then again in the mid 30s.
One son of Patrick O'Bryan was Patrick 1799-1855... married to a Mary Shelnut. One son of Patrick 1799 was named Patrick and born 1836 whereas another son, named Henry, was born 1824. I don't who either of these men married or where they later lived. They were both born in Nova Scotia and could have entered the US.

Hi:
Scariff and Tuamgraney parishes are very close to one another so it is very possible that they could have known one another. If you look at the Clare County Library Website at www.clarelibrary.ie/genealogy, you will find that a lot of the Scariff records have been donated and can be viewed from the site. Look under the Section entitled Donated Materials, and click on Births, Marriages, Deaths. Scariff is listed.
You may also find information about your O'Briens emigrating as a number of the passenger ship lists have been transcribed for Clare residents.
