I am looking for additional information about Charles & Eleanor Kelly.  I would love to corrrespond with one of their descendants.

They lived near St. Lukes Liskinfere and taught school at what is now the National Scholl across from the church.  Charles was involved with the church and his signature shows up on several church documents.

They had three children that I know of.

Mary Anne Kelly born about 1829 (Wexford), married 1st Samuel Berry 1850 in St. Lukes, and 2nd Michael Moore in 1867.  They had two children that lived to adulthood.

Charels Edward Kelly born about 1838 (Wexford), married Anne Alexander Manifold 1859.  They had three children that lived to adulthood.

William Spence Kelly born about 1839 (Benburb), left Ireland about 1873 and returned only for periodic visits.  He married Sarah Pamela Williams of Florida, USA and they had one child (Charles John Kelly).

They Charles & Eleanor retired from teaching in 1877 and moved to County Wicklow. and lived at Ballymoyle.

  • Just as a point of interest, Cantwells Memorials of the Dead, lists Lesinfree

but it's COI and there are no Kelly's recorded, so they must be RC.

  • Only came across your post which is very interesting. I’m the great great grand daughter of Mary Anne Kelly, who married Samuel Berry in 1850. They had a son together, William Henry Berry. He married Mary Gilsenan in St Mary’s Procathedral, Dublin in 1872. Their daughter, Mary Josephine b. 15/3/1884 married Francois Joly, of Mepieu, Isere, Rhône Alpes, France. Their son, William, was my Father. We were completely unaware of Mary Anne’s 2nd marriage but very interesting to the Joly family here.
