Do you have any information about Catherine Forde. She was born about 1830, married Patrick Shannon, one son was James (my great grandfather). They lived in Grange parish, Galway county sometime in 1860s. Any info about her or Patrick would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Kim,
The Tithe Applotments which are free to search at www.titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/ (search Forde Galway) has 85 Fordes in Galway but only 2 in Grange in 1824 - Timothy and a missing name.
Griffiths Valuation done in Griffiths Valuation 1855 which is also free to search at www.askaboutireland.ie/griffithsvaluation/ has 135 Fordes in Galway but she was a Shannon by then.
As luck would have it there is 1 Patrick Shannon in Griffiths Valuation Galway in Grange; parish is Slievedotia.
On ancestry.com the 1880 US Census has her with Patrick aged 55 so born abt 1825. The 1900 census has her aged 73 so born 1827. The 1900 entry said she had had 9 children with 5 still living.
I searched www.rootsireland.ie/ for their marriage and their births.
There was no marriage record.
There were 8 matches for Catherine born 1826+ - 1 year in all counties: 3 in Galway, and 1 in each of Leitrim, Cork, Wicklow, Meath & Kilkenny.
For Patrick Shannon born 1826 + - 1 there were 10: 4 in Roscommon 2 in Limerick and one in Tipperary, Offaly, Kildare and Cork. Given that he lived in Grange these don't look too promising.
The only county in which there is a record for both is Cork.
I went through the Cork parishes for Catherine's birth & it was Donoughmore. The Patrick Shannon birth in Cork was not from the same parish.
I checked the parishes of the Galway records and they are Castlegar, Loughrea and Abbeykknockmoy. Of these Loughrea is closest to Grange.
I hope someone else on the site can have more luck for you Kim!
