Patrick Larkin & Mary Bridget Robertson McBride (both b. early 1800s) were the parents of Mary b. abt. 1835, James b. in Cushendall abt. 1840, and Hanah b. abt. 1845. Religion: RC.

Patrick was a butcher.

Mary and her husband Jimmy Reid arrived in Portland, Australia, in 1853 on the “Hooghly” having departed from Southhampton, Eng.

By 1865 both James and Hannah were also in Australia.

    The births and the marriage were long before the start of statutory registration in Ireland (1864). For events prior to that you would need to rely on church records.  In the case of Layde RC records, they only start in 1838. However that should enable you to find some of the baptisms. You can see what records exist and where copies are held on this link:

    Note that though some of the records are on a pay to view site, the earliest ones (1838 ? 1850) are not. A personal visit to PRONI in Belfast or to the National Library in Dublin is probably required to access them (or get someone else to do that for you).
