John Nelligan and Catherine Daly came to Canada about 1827, They are believed to be from Tallow, Co. Waterford. Two of their sons born in Canada married sister who were Keily's daughters of David Keily and Mary Griffin of Tallow, CO Waterford. In those marriage a dispensation was required as they were "in the third degree of consanguinity" being children of first cousins. I am looking for more information on John Nelligan and Catherine Daly as I have not found their marriage or births as yet.

Hi Donna,
Thank you very much for your message.
Fortunately, Catholic records in Tallow start as early as 1797 so hopefully you may be able to find birth/marriage records for the couple is they were indeed from the parish.
Most Catholic records are still held locally so it may be a good idea to contact the local parish priest for some possible assistance. Here are the contact details:

Alternatively, as you can see from the Irish Times link above, Waterford Heritage and Genealogy Centre have some copies available. Here is their email if you would like to contact them:mnoc@iol.ie
