I am looking for information (her parents / siblings etc) on my ancestor:

Margaret Ellen Theresa Darmody, born 02.12.185, county Tipperary .

She married a George Alfred Stinton (born 22.09.1873) but I am not sure when / where.

They must have come over to South Africa by ship but I am not sure when as I cannot find any records for either name.

Their first child Henry Douglas Stinton was born in King Williams Town South Africa 1896.There other children were Albert Edward, Getrude, Alfred , George and I cannot remember the other names.

She died in Empangeni , South African on 29.10.1961

Many thanks

  • Nichola:

I looked for a birth index record for Margaret in 1875 in Co. Tipperary. I used www.findmypast.ie which is a subscription site but you can also use www.familysearch.org which is free. I found one record in the Nenagh registration district but I have no way of knowing whether this is the correct index record for your Margaret. You can contact the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the record for around 4 euros. Fill out their form and provide the info in the index record below.

  • Hello! Hope you're all fine and well. I know this is a few years on, but i'm researching my family tree which involves the Darmodys mentioned above in Nenagh, and wondered if this was connected/you'd found much out?

    Thank you!
