Stephen Loftus (b 1832) Attymas, married Mary Dempsey (b 1838) emigrated to Liverpool between 1875 and 1881.  They had 5 children born in Ireland; Michael, Thomas, Catherine, twins Dominick and William (my great grandfather), and 2 born in West Hartlepool, England; Stephen and Mary.  By 1891 they were living in  British Columbia Canada.

    I went to www.familysearch.org (free site) and looked for baptismal index records for the Loftus children but could only locate a record for Catherine in December 1868. I also went to www.findmypast.ie which is a subscription site and found an index record for William and Dominick in 1874. The William record is below the Catherine record. Dominick's info was the same except he was recorded on page 12 rather than 13. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the birth record. Fill out the form and provide the year of birth, registration district (Ballina) and the volume and page number. Costs around 4 euros for a copy.
