Can anyone please assist me.
My great-great grand-mother was a irish famine orphan.
She was in coleraine workhouse. Came out to australia on the earl grey scheme.
To Adelaide on the ship Roman Emperor in 1848. She was about 16. Born approx 1832.
Her parents names were John and Catherine.( Maiden name unknown ).
Dont know if there were any sibblings.
Dont know from what town she came from, or what even happened to her parents.
Surname listed on ship register shows as Doherty ( spelling different )
She died in Port Pirie ( South australia ) in 1895.
It was confirmed in a south australian news- paper after her death that she was a irish famine orphan, and the details of the name of the workhouse. Put in by her children.
Her name was Mary Anne Dougherty. Possibly another middle name catherine.
If you can offer any information, Please send me an email. amethist47@hotmail.com.
Thankyou. Kerrie Heinrich ( from Adelaide, South Australia. )
