Seeking birth records or any other information about Thomas Joseph Monahan, born around 1917, emigrated to England around 1940. Father's name: Thomas Monahan, Father's occupation: Farmer, Place of residence: The Park, Kilrickle. Siblings include John (Johnny), Seamus (Jimmy), Mary (married surname Kelly), Beasie (may have been a school teacher).
Siblings' names don't seem to appear in the online birth records for Kilrickle. Monahans in the 1911 census of Kilrickle don't seem to match any of these names. The 1911 census does list a Thomas Monahan who is a farmer, but he and his wife are in their 50s, so they'd be too old to produce these children. Any advice about where to search for further records would be greatly appreciated.

I found a couple of birth index records for Thomas Monahans. Kilreekill parish is partly in the Loughrea registration district and partly in the Ballinasloe district depending where you lived. One record was for late 1917 in Loughrea and the other was for the first quarter of 1918 in Ballinasloe district. You would have to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie fill out their form and give them the info in the two records below and ask for the Thomas Monahan who had a father named Thomas (hopefully the fathers name on the other record is different). Costs around 4 euros.

Thanks for your reply Roger. I was only looking in Loughrea and didn't realise that some Kilrickle records might also be in Ballinasloe. Hopefully I'll be able to find some more information now :)

Hi KM- There are still plenty of that clan in the Kilreekil area.I knew most of those named above.You have cousins in Loughrea and Kilreekil.
