Searching for William Adams and wife Jane.  On 1901 census they were listed as living in Grangee, Carrowdore.  On 1911 census only Jane is mentioned and she has several grandchildren living with her.

William died between 1901 and 1911. I looked for death index records in the Newtownards registration district. I found two possible records. Based on the age for William in the 1901 census, you would believe that he was born around 1844. However, frequently age was understated in the 1901 census. The two records below are for a William born in 1832 and 1846. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the record. Fill out their form and provide the information from both records quarter/year of death, registration district (Newtownards) and the volume and page numbers ( 1 and 672 and 1 and 627). Tell them you want  the record for the William Adams from Grangee.Cost 4 euros.

  • Thanks for your help.  I tried getting an online death certificate but the death date stops at 1924!!!!!!!!!!  I sent off an email with all the above details.  Let's hope they get back to me.  I'll keep you advised.

    Ciao

  • Helen,

You can only order on-line a) for events from 1.1.1922 onwards and b) for events in what is now the Republic of Ireland. For these 2 deaths which were befpore that and in Northenr Ireland you need to print off the application form, complete it by hand and then either post or fax it back to them. Tick the photocopy box if you are content with a photocopy. (4 euros as opposed to 20).

If you put ?please e-mail to??? plus your e-mail address, boldly on the application form, they?ll e-mail the copy to you.
